Can I paddleboard/kayak/canoe/swim in the lake?

For safety reasons, no recreational activities can take place on the lake except for those organized by Friessen Development, Inc. (FDI), or businesses that are contracted to provide those services.

Seasonal business Flow and Paddle offers stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) classes and rentals, as well as kayak rentals and pedal boat rentals. All participants must sign waivers to partake in these activities with Flow and Paddle.

Contact Flow and Paddle for more information about how to participate in one of their classes.

Can I fish at Lake Lorraine?

Because it is a privately-owned lake, no fishing is allowed at Lake Lorraine. No fishing is allowed under any other circumstances and signs are located around the lake stating this. Anyone caught fishing will be asked to leave.

Starting in 2021 the developers partnered with the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks to add recreational opportunities at the lake.

In order to participate, you must register with the GFP for their pop-up events. Spots are limited. All participants must sign waivers to partake in these activities with GFP. Contact GFP for more information about how to participate in one of their classes.

I want to hold a special event at the lake. How can I make this happen?

The developers are very open to partnering with organizations to hold events at the lake. Contact the Lake Lorraine Community Director at 605.929.9319 or use this form.

How long is the Lake Walk?

The Lake Walk measures approximately one mile around the entire lake. The west side of the walk is fully paved and features several sitting areas to relax and watch the water. The east portion of the pathway is made of crushed asphalt and will be paved once development in that area is complete. There are several entry points and street parking is available along Westlake Drive.

How can I be a part of the Lake Lorraine Farmers Market?
